The Mandela Bay Accommodation Alliance (MBAA) is the newly rebranded evolution of the Port Elizabeth Metro Bed & Breakfast Association (PEMBBA). While our name reflects the growth and transformation of Nelson Mandela Bay, our commitment remains unchanged—to support, represent and strengthen the accommodation sector through collaboration, professionalism and shared success.
Today, MBAA welcomes accommodation establishments of all sizes and styles, creating an inclusive network that represents the diverse hospitality industry across Nelson Mandela Bay.

Our Story
Originally established in 2002 as the Port Elizabeth Metro Bed & Breakfast Association (PEMBBA), the Alliance was formed during a period of rapid growth in the local accommodation sector. At the time, many small and medium-sized establishments were emerging, often operating without consistent standards or clear industry representation.
Recognising the need for professionalism, a group of dedicated accommodation owners came together to establish an organisation that would promote quality, ethical business practices and responsible tourism.
Over the past two decades, the Alliance has earned a reputation as a respected voice for independent accommodation providers, advocating for its members while encouraging excellence across the hospitality industry.
As tourism has evolved, so too has the Alliance. The transition to the Mandela Bay Accommodation Alliance (MBAA) reflects a renewed vision that embraces all accommodation providers across Nelson Mandela Bay while preserving the values and foundations established by PEMBBA.
